Come Worship! Sunday School for all ages at 9:45 am and Worship at 11:00 am
West Raleigh Presbyterian Church was founded in 1927 to minister to the surrounding neighborhood, with a special emphasis on students, faculty and staff of the various colleges through programs of worship, study, fellowship, service, outreach and pastoral care.
Now some 80 years later, Presbyterian Campus Ministry remains housed in WRPC where students are a part of the community and meet for worship, meals, and fellowship each week.
Some exciting news for your Monday: the interim search committee has extended a call to Cate Church Norman for the campus minister position. She will begin on August 8th (today!) and the contract is for eleven months. You may have some questions. If any of the below don't answer your thoughts, please feel free to email me.
So what does this mean?
Cate will work with us during this interim year while the PCM board puts together another search committee for the permanent campus minister.
Why have an interim?
The short answer is time. We had roughly three months to go through the entire process of finding a campus minister, which isn't a whole lot of time in the PCUSA world. (Most Presbyterian churches take a year or longer to hire a new pastor since the search is nationwide). We were really lucky to have some excellent candidates already in the area; Cate is from Cary and NCSU is her alma mater.
When will we have a permanent campus minister?
The goal is basically this time next year. The search committee decided to include the interim in the pool of applicants for the permanent position. This means that Cate will also be able to apply for the job if she chooses to. The search committee for the permanent position will consist of current and past PCMers, members of the board, and a WRPC representative. This group will be formed once school starts and things settle down a bit. If you are interested in serving on this committee, please let me know.

See you all in a week... wut.
